Big Beautiful Baby

It's been a while since our last post. Mommy and Daddy have finals coming up so it's been a little bit crazy. But Jacob is a very popular baby, and his fans need to stay informed of the goings-on in his life. So here are some baby updates:

Jacob's favorite foods: Chicken nuggets, quesadillas, chocolate-flavored anything... Oh, and beef sandwiches...

Jacob's favorite things to do: Climb stairs (Thanks for that one, Grandma!), climb ANYTHING (chairs, beds, people, Stellah, etc.), play outside- He absolutely adores playing outside! He crawls over to the door and bangs on it until we take him outside to play.

                   

Jacob's new accomplishments: Shakes his head "No", clapping, brushing his hair, dancing to the "Shake your Booty!" song, his FOUR teeth, standing by himself (but he gets too nervous to take steps), singing, he's the fastest crawler in the west, and he loves to play peekaboo!

Jacob's best friend: Jacob has a new best friend that he just LOVES. Miss Abigail Rose, Auntie Lisa's new baby, is the most beautiful little girl in the world. She and Jacob are completely enthralled with each other. Over the summer, Mommy and Auntie Lisa have so many fun things planned for the cute little cousins. How fun!

Who is this big boy and where did my baby go?

We awake to the sound of "MAMAMA DADA MAMA DADADA!" Jacob's standard cry for mommy and daddy. We go to retrieve him and we find a standing baby!!!! AHHH!! Where did my baby go? He is growing up waaay tooo fast. Here he is playing baseball...

...and ordering a beer...

...and doing the backstroke...

...and doing his taxes...

...and driving the car.

See? No more baby. We have a full-fledged big boy!

Updates

Wow! It's been a reaaaally long time since this was updated. Sorry! Jacob was a very busy baby over Christmas break. It's hard to be so popular. Jacob's first Christmas was a smashing success. Both memorable and unreasonably adorable. Who doesn't love making a baby smile?

Jacob has acquired many new skills since our last update. Let's take a look, shall we?
- Jacob can say "Stellah", "Mama", "Dada", and "Grandma".
- Jacob now eats between 3 and 4 meals a day. He eats green beans, squash, potatoes, bread, crackers, yogurt, bananas, peaches, blueberries, applesauce, Cheerios, peas, and carrots. He will also eat absolutely any food he can get his hands on. He likes french fries A LOT. He's a sneaky little food stealer.
- Jacob can now sit up straight by himself. This is excellent for us because now he can just sit next to us and play instead of being restrained by pesky baby seats.
- Jacob can crawl, but typically chooses not to. It's much easier to scream until he gets what he wants. When that isn't an option, he has no problem crawling whatsoever. Lazy baby.
- We suspect that Jacob will be walking sooner than we're ready. He can stand momentarily by himself, tries to pull himself up on everything, and every time we try to put him in any sort of seat- his rocking chair, highchair, car seat, etc- he locks his legs and tries to stand on it. He also walks around holding onto our fingers. Man, is he getting big!
- Jacob's latest and most adorable new development is dancing. Jacob has danced a few times before to Train, Van Morrison, and when Mommy sings to him, but lately it's been way more vigorous. Especially when the theme song to "Bubble Guppies", his favorite show, comes on. It's mostly bouncing up and down and randomly flailing his arms about, but it's absolutely adorable.
