Poopy Boy
This morning we were greeted by a very fussy, very stubborn baby. He did not want his bottle, nor his pacifier. His diaper was clean, and his eyes were red and puffy, so we knew he was tired, whether he wanted to admit it or not. We spent a couple hours trying to soothe him. One thing would work for a little while, but soon enough he would start fussing again. We finally brought him into our bed, where he was immediately content, chatting up a storm. All of a sudden, he got reeeeeeal quiet. A few moments of silence passed and that's when we noticed it. The smell. The undeniable, unavoidable poopy diaper. In her half-sleep state, Mommy pretended she hadn't noticed yet, hoping Daddy would feel a little bit more like plunging elbow deep in that stinky, squashy, smushy mess. After a few minutes went by, Mommy groaned and picked up this smelly, squirmy little guy, only to find that the damage was done. There, on our bed, was a big, goopy glob of toxic baby waste. We looked at Jacob and he had the biggest smile on his face. He looked back and forth between the two of us looking so proud of himself. Either he was laughing at our misfortune, or it's like when dogs bring you dead animals. Perhaps our little bubba was only trying to give us a "Thanks for being the best Mommy and Daddy!" present. "Here ya go guys! Look what I made! A special squashy blend, just for you!" Thank you, big beautiful baby. We will treasure such a precious gift forever.

Squash Baby
Jacob has tried bananas, green beans, and rice cereal. But his favorite is homemade butternut squash! When we feed him, he grabs the spoon and shoves it into his mouth like he thinks we're not really gonna give him any. He also likes to put his hands in it and eat it off. He likes it so much that he saves some on his face for later!
Getting Everyone Up to Date
Clearly, a big boy. Note the shirt and tie.
C'mon, people. Jacob's a big boy now. We celebrated his five month birthday on Friday. He is chalk full of tons of marketable skills. First of all, he is currently wearing a nine month outfit. Anything six months and below is too small. Six-nine works... for now. But most of this clothes are nine months and above. Last we checked, Jacob was 19 pounds, 1 ounce. But two weeks before that, he was 17 pounds, 6 ounces, so we really can't be sure. He's about 27 inches long, making most of his pants too short for his chubby little legs. Jacob can roll over, but it's a skill he doesn't really need. He squirms his way around until he gets to where he needs to go. He likes to sing with mommy, snorts when he laughs, and puts anything at all in his mouth. Yesterday, he tried to grab his changing table organizer and chew on it. I don't know who this kid thinks he is... He is currently infatuated with his feet. You can almost hear him thinking, "If only my thighs weren't so fat I could just get these toes in my mouth." Jacob would make an excellent parrot. If mom and dad laugh, he laughs. If daddy has a cold and has been sneezing and coughing, Jacob makes little coughing noises and his fake sneezes (screaming, "waaah-oooo"). Lastly, but perhaps the most important skill of all, Jacob is a lady-killer. Young or old, no woman can resist his baby charm. He's gonna have the girls chasing after him in no time!
Jacob's Very First Post!
Hello, loved ones! Lately, we have been thinking about what a bummer it is that being away at school makes it hard for everyone to keep up-to-date on Jacob's fast-paced, very exciting life as the cutest baby in the world. We will keep you updated on new milestones, new tricks, and new experiences for Jacob so no one has to miss a thing! We love you! Enjoy!
Love, The Minasolas
